White Eagle Partners with Bright Futures Augusta for School Supply Drive
In August, White Eagle partnered with Bright Futures Augusta for its annual Back to School Supply Drive. White Eagle was a drop-off location for the community to help get supplies to students in need. All three of our branches, including El Dorado and Newton, also donated school supplies. This year, with the communities’ help, Augusta Bright Futures was able to fill 45 backpacks for students in need.
Beautifying Downtown Augusta with Adopt-a-Pot
White Eagle Loan Officer Holli Scobee and Mortgage Loan Processor Jennifer Tolley placed 1st in the City of Augusta and Downtown Augusta, Inc.’s Fourth Annual Adopt-a-Pot Contest. This is an annual event in which individuals and organizations design, plant and tend to a potted plant downtown. The plant is then judged at the peak of the season in July. Winners winners were announced at the first city council meeting in August. Scobee and Tolley chose to donate their winnings of $250 to an organization near and dear to their hearts – Hickory Hollow Animal Refuge.
White Eagle Welcomes Teachers Back to Schools
At White Eagle, we are proud to support education and teachers in our communities. On August 4th, Senior Loan Officer Ellen Banister served a welcome lunch to teachers new to the USD 402 Augusta School District. On August 13th, White Eagle President Rick Blue welcomed the new teachers of Butler Community College and El Dorado Schools. Along with providing goodies for new teacher baskets, Blue introduced Mr. Bruce Fiscus, a new Butler Community College Math teacher. The El Dorado Chamber of Commerce hosts this event each year. Then, on August 11th, our Newton Branch welcomed back teachers at Newton High School with a booth and a free White Eagle tote bag. We offer our thanks to all of these teachers and wish them great school year.
Treats for Miracles
On July 30th, White Eagle employees participated in Miracle Treat Day with Dairy Queen (DQ). For every Blizzard® treat sold during this special annual event, $1 or more is donated by local participating DQ stores to a local Children’s Miracle Network hospital. According to the Miracle Treat Network website, this year nearly $2 million will be donated to Children’s Miracle Network hospitals across the United States. At White Eagle CU we are proud to be able to participate in any way we can to support our local CMN hospital – Via Christi Health. For more information, visit miracletreatday.com.
